Silver UP5 Lounge Chair and UP6 Ottoman by Gaetano Pesce for B&B Italia, 2000. Made from expanded polyurethane foam and upholstered in elastic synthetic jersey. The silver upholstery was a special edition color launched as an anniversary piece to celebrate the chair's 50 years. This piece has personalized serial number on the underside. Pesce's vision was to create a seat that embodied the human form, with curves and contours that cradle and support the body. The UP5 chair and UP6 ottoman is Pesce's most famous designs and are often referred to as La Mamma, Big Mama, and Donna. It can be found in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum of Art and Design and the Philidelphia Museum of Art.
